The proposal...

His side: So being super nervous and not knowing what to do with myself I emailed Megan's Mother asking her if they had a moment I could talk to her and her husband. So on the weekend of the 4th we were with her family for festivities. Megan's Mom pulled me aside to speak with them and I had the opportunity to tell them that I love their daughter and wanted to ask for permission to buy a ring so I could ask her to marry me. Her Dad didn't know if he should give me permission or a warning, but in the end it worked out just fine. Permission was granted.

The following week I had the debate between two jewelery stores in looking for the perfect ring for the perfect girl. It needed to be something unique and beautiful so that I could buy the girl of my dreams the best ring. Eventually I decided on a ring and placed the order. I had to wait two days while they fit the diamond into the setting. Then Friday I picked up the ring.

Saturday Megan worked all day shooting a wedding and I anxiously waited. Once she was done with work and exhausted from the long day I asked if she would like to go for a walk. She said that'd be great and we could get out of the house for a little bit. I asked her to drive up the canyon where we first got together for our first date. We went up the canyon and started our walk down the little trail. Not far into the trail I couldn't wait in anticipation any longer and got the ring out from my back pack. After a few more steps I wrapped her in my arms and told her how much she meant to me. I told Megan that she is the best ever and I love her more then anything. I got down on one knee for the most terrifying moment of my life to date and asked her if she would marry me. She started laughing and made me pretty nervous, but luckily my dreams came true and she said yes. So we were engaged at that moment and I couldn't be happier. I'm the luckiest person ever. I love Megan.

Her side: Isn't he a romantic?! haha! The day of the proposal... Steve hadn't been feeling well that week so i was caught a little off guard when I got home and he was freshly showered and shaved and wanting to go walk around in Provo Canyon. On our drive he was unusually quiet, I asked if he was tired and he said he wasn't. I started to get a little nervous! I suggested that maybe we stay in town and go for a walk. He was very set on going up the canyon. that's when i began to clue in. "OMG is this really happening?!" I asked myself, in my head of course. Once we got to the trail head he grabbed his back pack from the car. I joked around about the need for a back pack on our little walk, his rebuttal was that he was using it to carry a flash light. This was about 10:30 at night, it was dark. The fact that we weren't just carrying the flash light got me really hopeful and excited! We didn't get very far down the trail when he started reciting the nicest things to me I've ever heard and got down on a knee. So yeah I started laughing. I was SO excited!!! After he got me to stop kissing him, he asked if that was a yes answer, and of course, it was. And that's our story! I'm officially engaged to the nicest guy I've ever met! He's charming, fun, and I couldn't be happier! Love you too Steve!!!!!

  1. How about we try not to make Karli cry via blog. I'm so happy for you Steve (and Megan, though I've yet to meet you)!

  2. Congratulations!

I'm trying to think of what good advice I was given when I got engaged and can't remember any of the good stuff, so I'll just say remember she's your best friend and the best thing about marriage is when you fall out of love it keeps you together until you fall in again. (it's usually just a day-long thing anyway) congrats, man!
